ASSESSMENT OVERVIEW: Assessment combines weekly relational mapping, in-class close reading, a community-facing seminar, and a culminating anthology project. Controlled (Lane 1) tasks verify students’ own close reading and critical thinking in class; uncontrolled (Lane 2) tasks develop extended research, creative and curatorial work. Lane 1 and Lane 2 each carry 50% of the course, and no single item exceeds 40%.
ADDITIONAL INFO ON ASSESSMENT: In Lane 2 tasks, students may use AI tools. They remain responsible for the accuracy of everything they submit and should note which tools they used, and how, as part of their self-reflexive positioning. Lane 1 tasks are completed in class without devices unless a special condition or reasonable accommodation applies. The in-class close reading poem must be approved by the convenor one week in advance. The Week 10 anthology workshop and the Week 12 cover sharing are unassessed feedforward sessions.
