This course aims to explore how images and sounds are utilised in the production of moving image works. You will learn about the key stages of moving image production including planning for video and sound recording, and editing techniques.
Students will be introduced to digital camera and recording technologies. We will analyse how filming and editing can evoke emotion, exaggerate mood, and emphasise action through image sequencing and considered sound editing. The course examines a range of moving image methods including experimental, narrative and non-narrative approaches. Underpinning all teaching and learning in this course are the principles of partnership, participation and protection, including whanaungatanga, which is explored through ideas of exchange, situations of collaboration, and shared responsibility for learning within a community of practice.
