The course covers the basics of sound phenomena and representations, starting with sound genesis and the human experience of sounds. Topics also include different forums of sound visualisation and representation, like waveforms, spectrograms, notation, and MIDI. Students will learn about many sound and music phenomena, including stereo, phase, delay, and various audio effects like echo and flanging. The course also covers frequency domain analysis, and addresses concepts related to notated music, such as intervals, scales, harmony, and melody.
