SPORT101 (Making a difference in sport) explores the role of sport in shaping social identities, examining community values, and influencing personal development. Through a multidisciplinary approach, students examine key perspectives on sport, including sociological, socio-cultural, pedagogical, socio-political, and psychological lenses. The course challenges students to understand how sport can both reinforce and contest societal norms, particularly around issues like masculinity, violence, and power. By engaging with these perspectives, students will gain insights into the broader impact of sport on individuals and communities, preparing them to make meaningful contributions to the field of sport and recreation.
