Artificial Intelligence (AI) is having an increasing impact on societies and cultures around the world. While AI is increasingly part of our social landscape, its role and how it should be governed remains deeply contested. This course will explore the broader impacts of AI on our lives and societies.
Over the course, we will study the complex relationships between AI and society. We will start by building a foundation of how our modern AI systems function and the inputs needed to make them. Then, we will move through successive layers as we explore the impacts of AI on our personal lives, relationships, organisations, and societies. Along this journey, we will utilise real-world case studies to build our knowledge of the complex interactions between technology and humanity.
This course is transdisciplinary; you will work with students from different disciplines and engage with the broader community. You will build a body of knowledge and a mindset that allows you to address complex issues that any single discipline cannot solve: the skills to make a difference in our future. We invite you to join us on this journey of transformative change in how we integrate AI into our society to benefit everyone.
