Knowledge and Skills

Take your architectural knowledge to the next level with a postgraduate qualification. Depending on your career aspirations, you can choose to complete a recognised professional masters programme, or undertake a more research-oriented degree.
Because the built environment fields operate collaboratively, we offer combined masters qualifications that help you prepare for the multidisciplinary nature of modern practice. This gives you the skills and knowledge of two masters qualifications in less time than it would take you to complete them separately.
Postgraduate study in Architecture gives you the opportunity to explore your personal research and design interests. We encourage you to use these to develop critical thinking and technical expertise in order to thrive in the built environment disciplines.

Potential Careers

Becoming a practising architect is a common outcome for those who study architecture and go on to complete registration requirements. However, an Architecture graduate can contribute to the industry as a designer or project manager, or work in client liaison. University of Auckland graduates have found employment in private firms, consultancies and public institutions locally and internationally.

Graduates have also been known to utilise their creative thinking and digital skills in other fields, such as film or web design.
