Subject Overview

You will gain an understanding of New Zealand history, politics and society. This foundational knowledge about our nation will enable you to engage and participate as an informed and engaged citizen of Aotearoa New Zealand.
This module also gives you an opportunity to develop an informed awareness of the Treaty of Waitangi and its place in New Zealand’s history, politics and society.

Potential Careers

The understanding you can gain from this module could be helpful for careers in local and national government, communities, charitable organisations, companies or organisations that engage with iwi, as well as the wider public sector.

You must complete three of the courses listed below (45 points), including at least one course (15 points) at Stage II.
Each course is worth 15 points. Before you can enrol in a Stage II course you need to have passed the prerequisite courses for enrolment in that course.
