Subject Overview

Ever wonder how the pyramids were made, why Greek mythology is still so popular or who Cleopatra really was? In Classical Studies and Ancient History, you will explore the cultures and histories of the ancient Mediterranean world, with a particular focus on Egypt, Greece, and Rome.
Themes include warfare, literature, art, politics, religion, gender, and modern receptions of ancient cultures. The ancient world is still with us as a reference point and touchstone. In Classical Studies and Ancient History, we strive to understand why this has been such a powerful and influential period of human history and what we can still learn from and enjoy about the world of the ancient past.
