Subject Overview

Environmental Management explores the ecological, economical, social and institutional factors that cause environmental problems. It develops the critical thinking required to address the politics surrounding a wide range of environmental problems.
Investigation about the role between scientific knowledge production and governmental decision-making around conservation, environmental policy and management is focused on equipping you with the skills to find suitable solutions and approaches to address these problems.
This specialisation will give you the opportunity to learn how to encourage social change, and promote the sustainable development of our natural resources to enable society to become better custodians of our environment.

Knowledge and Skills

The Environmental Management specialisation explores the knowledge, tools and methods that can be used to solve environmental problems and monitor success.
You will study advanced courses in Environmental Management and Geography. Topics include:
- Advanced principles in resource management
- Debates surrounding climate change
- Environmental policy and governance
- How to engage communities in the pursuit of sustainable development
- Human welfare and natural resource management

Potential Careers

Due to the growing need to better protect our environment and manage our natural resources, Environmental Management can lead to careers in policy making and research, and roles where enthusiasm, knowledge and leadership of sustainable practice is required.
