Knowledge and Skills

You will develop your understanding of the Māori, Pacific and Indigenous worlds from both historical and contemporary perspectives, exploring topics such as colonisation, identity and language.

You will be able to draw on worldviews from Aotearoa New Zealand and the Pacific in both your academic life and beyond the University.

Potential Careers

Employers are increasingly looking for staff with strong cultural competency. Government agencies, the education and health sectors and NGOs especially seek employees with these perspectives. Your knowledge of these social, economic, political and cultural issues will boost your capability for engaging with diverse communities and values in a meaningful way.

You must complete three of the courses listed below (45 points), including MĀORI 130 and PACIFIC 100.
Each course is worth 15 points. Before you can enrol in a Stage II or III course you need to have passed the prerequisite course/s for enrolment in that course.
