Subject Overview

Philosophy is a subject that has been around for thousands of years and continues to shape the way we understand the world. It is the study of fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, values, reason, the mind, and language. Philosophy is concerned with the analysis and evaluation of arguments, and with the development of logical reasoning and critical thinking skills.

Students have the opportunity to explore a wide range of topics and perspectives, from ancient and medieval philosophy to contemporary issues in ethics, epistemology, and the philosophy of science. Students will learn how to construct and evaluate arguments, analyse and critique philosophical texts, and engage in informed and respectful discussions with others.

By taking Philosophy courses, students will develop a range of valuable skills, including critical thinking, clear and effective communication, and the ability to analyse complex ideas. They will also gain a deeper understanding of the world and their place within it, as well as a greater appreciation for the diversity of human thought and experience.
