Overview

Programme Overview

Throughout this programme you will explore holistic mokopuna development, specialist STEM curriculum, Māori-medium educational leadership, and culturally responsive assessment practices that integrate mātauranga Māori with contemporary approaches. You will develop skills to teach effectively through te reo Māori while gaining theoretical and practical experience in school placements. The programme aims to produce educators to meet diverse needs in Kaupapa Māori and Māori-medium settings.

Modes of Delivery

The programme uses a blended delivery model, with School Onsite Training as the core teaching practice. Students will engage in practical, hands-on learning in Māori-medium schools while receiving remote instruction via asynchronous modules and attending periodic wānanga. The combination of real-world teaching placements and theoretical learning provides an innovative, research-informed educational experience that is responsive to the current needs of students in the programme, Kaupapa Māori Education and Māori-medium Education and their communities.
