You’ll develop strong clinical and critical reasoning from evidence-based, research-informed, contemporary and culturally responsive content. Assessment is practice-oriented, using case-based, student-centred and active learning methods.

Through a combination of online and face-to-face learning, along with clinical placements, you will be well-placed to become a leader of the future in the physiotherapy profession.

The Master of Physiotherapy Practice at the University of Auckland have completed the Accreditation review and evaluation process administered by the Physiotherapy Board of Aotearoa NZ | Te Poari Tiaki Tinana o Aotearoa.

Programme Structure

The programme will be delivered in a case-based, practically-oriented learning and teaching style, emphasizing the application of theory to practice, clinical reasoning, and physiotherapy knowledge and skills. Inquiry and project-based, active learning and teaching methods will be used to facilitate critical thinking and independent learning.

Academic knowledge will be consolidated during five five-week clinical practicums placed in District Health Board or private practice clinical settings, under supervision of registered physiotherapists.

Academic and clinical practicum courses will be delivered sequentially across both years of study, to support the translation of knowledge and skills to clinical practice. Academic courses must be passed prior to undertaking an associated clinical practicum.
