Overview

Programme Overview

Expand your employability in a diverse range of sectors by giving your undergraduate degree an additional boost. The PGCertEng supplements your current skills with the management foundations and industrial perspectives you'll need for an engineering career.

With flexible learning options, you can tailor your programme to suit diverse engineering interests. We offer both full-time and part-time options. If you intend to pursue further study, the PGCertEng also serves as a recommended pathway to our masters programmes.

Programme Structure

The Postgraduate Certificate in Engineering caters to professionals who are seeking to advance their knowledge. This is a flexible programme so you can structure your learning around your interests; either by selecting courses within the general areas of engineering or refining your study to a specific field of expertise. The certificate can be awarded through a general pathway, or endorsed in one of the specialisations listed further below.

Engineering General Pathway

Of the 60 points required for the PGCertEng a student must pass four courses (60 points) selected from courses in one or more of the schedules for the Master of Civil Engineering, Master of Engineering Studies or Master of Professional Engineering, excluding dissertation, research portfolio and research project courses.

Specialisations (endorsed)

Of the 60 points required for the PGCertEng a student must pass a minimum of three courses (45 points) from one of the specialisations listed below and one course (15 points) from other relevant courses; selected from the schedules for the Master of Civil Engineering, Master of Engineering Studies or Master of Professional Engineering, excluding dissertation, research portfolio and research project courses.

Subject to meeting degree requirements, graduates can also transfer to an Engineering masters programme.

Programme Careers

Potential Careers

The PGCertEng functions largely as a pathway for further postgraduate study – while it can increase your employment opportunities, this qualification ultimately supplements your undergraduate degree with the additional technical and critical thinking skills needed to pursue an engineering masters degree.
